(NEW HOPE) – William R.A. Hargreaves (“Will”), a 2008 graduate of New Hope-Solebury High School, has received the 2008 Jeff Cooper C.A.R.E. Foundation Scholarship. This $1,000 scholarship is awarded each year to a NH-S graduating senior that follows in Jeff Cooper’s likeness: a well rounded student with strong moral character, who is involved with sports and extracurricular activities and plans to attend an accredited four year college or university.
Will, this year’s recipient, was born in London, England and moved to New Hope, PA in 1999, where at age 9, he faced the task of making new friends and integrating into a new community. As he graduates from NH-S, it is obvious he handled that task with great success.
Like many high school students, Will impressively juggled academics, part-time jobs, sports and other extracurricular activities. An avid soccer player, Will was a member of a club team, as well as NH-S’ soccer team, for which he served as captain in his junior year. Soccer awards for Will include the Coach’s Award & “Most Improved” player. In track, he was captain for 3 years, and once earned the title of MVP. Additionally, Will enjoys skiing and snowboarding in the winter. To earn his spending cash, Will waited tables at Wildflowers Thai Restaurant and worked as a soccer referee. In his free time, William enjoys reading, particularly historical works.
In a letter thanking the Jeff Cooper C.A.R.E.Foundation for his scholarship, Will writes: “I wish to thank you for selecting me as this year’s recipient of the Jeff Cooper C.A.R.E. Foundation scholarship. It is an honor.”
William is attending Washington College in Maryland this fall. He is undecided on a major at this time, but he is attending Washington College on a partial academic scholarship. The foundation extends Will Hargreaves many wishes for success in all his future endeavors.
